How Does Nutrition Response Testing Work?

Nutrition Response Testing is a muscle testing technique that allows us to assess the health of your nervous system and organs. We do this by pushing on your arm while we touch various parts of your body. We see if your arm locks or not (whether it is strong or weak). A lock is a response from the nervous system that it can withstand the small amount of pressure we are putting onto any place on the body.

When you touch an organ or part of the body that is under stress the nervous system takes attention away from the locked arm and it unlocks (or goes weak). If your arm goes weak that part of your body needs some nutritional support. If it stays strong that is not the thing your body wants addressed at that time. A weak response tells us to pay attention there. We correct the “weakness” with a supplement (whole food, herbs usually) which helps with correction of many symptoms you might be experiencing.

You may see in our office that we use an assistant’s arm sometimes instead of the patient. This is called indirect testing where we are using the other person as an “extension cord”. We are still testing you and touching your body. But, we are just using the assistant’s arm as the indicator for locked or unlocked.

Indirect testing

This is the procedure we often use with children who are too young to be tested directly. In the case of kids we often use the mom’s or dad’s arm. Most children under 10 need the help of an indirect tester. Kids need nutritional support, too. And, Nutrition Response Testing is a great way to make sure kids are healthy.
